Update from shai linne
Grace and Peace, Lampmates! This is shai. I just wanted to take a second to update y’all on a couple of things. I never really got a chance to thank all of you who followed us from the old site to this one. So consider this a long overdue welcome. The many comments, emails and convos we have at events tell us that you are still with us. Thanks for sticking around. You are the ones who remind us that we’re not crazy for thinking that there is an audience for Hip-hop that is Christ-centered and underground with lyrical complexity and theological depth. You remind us that we’re not buggin when we resist the temptation to exalt and boast in ourselves, but instead direct all the attention, praise and glory to God.
It’s crazy how time flies. I’m always amazed at the faithfulness of our God, who is the same yesterday and forever. It is soooooo obvious to us at Lampmode that everything that has happened in this ministry over the past few years has been nothing but the result of God’s abundant grace, kindness and favor. In different ways, we are daily reminded of two realities: 1. We are sinners who deserve nothing but the wrath and fury of a Holy God because of the many ways that we offend Him. 2. God has poured out His love and mercy on us so richly through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that it’s almost scandalous! The depth of His compassion for His sinful, flawed, broken children is absolutely unfathomable.
A couple of brief things:
1) deejay essence and I have been hard at work on new music. My new project, Storiez, is just about finished. We still have no release date as of yet. However, part of the reason for the delay is that the pieces have been put in place for it to be released nationally and available pretty much everywhere. Praise be to God for that! We’ll provide more details about it as it gets closer to release. Thanks for your patience!
2) In the meantime, there’s some new music up on my myspace page. www.myspace.com/shailinne The new song is called “Jesus is Alive” featuring Lecrae and produced by esso. It is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which the Scriptures teach is foundational and essential to the Christian’s faith. 1 Corinthians 15:17 put it this way: ”And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.” Amen. This song is part of a compilation of new songs from the artists of the Legacy Discipleship Conference in Chicago from Aug. 9-11. Also, we’ve made the song “More Random Thoughts” available for download before we permanently remove it from the page.
3) We will be making new (and old) songs available for free download on this site as a part of a series of blogs that Stephen the Levite and I are working on. The goal is to break down the songs and extract the Biblical truth from them in a way that will be devotional and hopefully help you towards further study. Lord willing, we will do this monthly (pray for us!). The first one is coming up in August.
That’s it for now. Thanks for your prayers, encouragement and support. Continue to keep timothy brindle and his family lifted up. And please pray for the rest of us as well. It makes a difference!
grace and peace,
shai
